Jaclyn Smith forms part of The Green Connection board & is the Vice Chair. She has worked in the green sector for 15 years focussing particularly in conservation of urban protected areas. Jaclyn obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Nature Conservation from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. Jaclyn states, “while all segments of the sector are important, I am especially drawn to urban conservation and ecosystem protection in the built environment. It is becoming increasingly important to offset our modern day impacts on the environment, before we lose irreplaceable resources that we rely on as society. This is where I hope to continue to contribute in the pursuit of sustainable nature based solutions and to support community beneficiation for the long term environmental objectives entrenched in the Constitution of South Africa.”
