Can the citizens of South Africa withstand such massive electricity price increases? Eskom has just released its tariff increase proposals that propose that electricity could rise 16% a year for the next 5 years.
Rising electricity prices have a ripple effect, causing a general rise in the price of goods – however, it is unlikely that salary increases will be 16% a year for the next 5 years, or that pensions and social grants will rise 16% a year over the next 5 years?
